After actively campaigning for the holiday food drive, PDA along with our vendors and Zakian Woo Architects collected 851 lbs of food and personal care items over a period of 2-1/2 weeks which far exceeded our goal of 300 lbs. Thank you to all our friends, families and colleagues for this astonishing accomplishment and contribution. We couldn’t have done this without you!
It’s a Party!
To celebrate another year of teamwork and good cheer, our team gathered together to count our blessings with food, drinks and great company. In the spirit of gift-giving, this year our “white elephant” gift exchange was design themed – whether it’s a book by our favorite designer/architect or an office/kitchen accessory, anything that inspires creativity and design. The evening was a success as we all toasted the holiday season!
Holiday Giving
This holiday season PDA is sponsoring a food drive from December 1st to December 16th to benefit the Los Angeles County Regional Food Bank. We are asking our vendors, clients and family members to help reach our donation goal of 300 pounds of food and personal care items. The Food Bank supplies food to over 600 charitable agencies with more than 1,000 sites that provide food for low-income children, families, senior citizens and individuals in need throughout the county. They currently provide the equivalent of 800,000 meals every week. If you would like to join our efforts, please contact our office and we will be more than happy to give you more information. It’s time to donate and think of our communities during this season of giving.
Design Meets LA 2011
In September, AIA Interiors Committee hosted their annual Design Meets LA with a Cuban chic theme, A Night in Havana at The Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica, California. Christine and Marta were among the partygoers gathered to celebrate the spirit of design of Los Angeles. Part of the gala consisted of a silent auction with top designers of the city donating art pieces. The auction proceeds help fund scholarships awarded every to to designers from local schools by the AIA Los Angeles Interior Architecture Committee. Christine bid and won the above oil painting of the Cuban flag by Alex Zarifian. The evening was filled with artwork, cocktails and good cheer. Caliente!
Master Architectural Millwork
Started in 1986, Eppink of California, Inc. is a high-end architectural millwork firm and a custom boutique shop. Though their main projects are tenant improvements, high-end residential and hospitality, Eppink provided their expert services for the UC Irvine Bldg 54 project by completing the millwork at the executive offices and conference center. The beautiful walnut finish is found throughout the space from the doors and wall paneling to the window sills and trims to the main reception desk. Thanks to Eppink the project was completed on time and conveyed the elegance of the intended design.
